The 2023 edition of the Expat Insider survey celebrated its tenth anniversary and once again reflected the reality of people living in countries other than their birth about life and work in their current place of residence. More than 12,000 expats from around the world, representing 171 nationalities and living in 172 countries or territories, shared their views on everyday life abroad.
Their answers provide detailed information about expat life around the world and Spain is very popular with three cities in the top three places and another two among the first classified.
First up is Malaga
Málaga ranks first among 49 cities, as it is the city with the highest rating for local friendliness in the world, according to those surveyed. 89% say locals are particularly friendly to foreigners).
The quality of life index (2nd) is another of Malaga’s highlights. In the meteorology category, it ranks first for its well-known and popular climate and weather (1st), and the natural environment also ranks in the top ten (8th). It ranks second in leisure options and is in the top 10 in the Travel & Transit (8th) and Health (10th) subcategories. Its weakest point is the labor market, with position 41.
Alicante takes second place. In the city of Alicante, they emphasize that it is there that foreigners find the most affordable housing, and although the labor market is not very favorable, the rest of the categories have advanced to this second place.

The stage is completed by the city of Valencia, which stands out for its leisure, recreational sports and health care options, which are also among the best in the world.
